Back to Reality

Returning from a magical experience like Walt Disney World, especially after spending several days immersed in its enchanting atmosphere, can feel like stepping back into the real world from a fairy tale. And let's be real, I want nothing more than to live the fairy tale that is Disney!

Post-Disney Blues are real! I have spent months, literally months, planning for this beautiful, wonderful Disney vacation. I enjoy watching YouTube videos about new eats at the park, hidden gems of where to find a quick rest, and what order I should attempt to ride high-attraction rides. As soon as I got in the car to begin our trek back to Georgia, nostalgia set in. The transition from a place filled with joy, excitement, and fantasy to everyday life can be a bit jarring.

As the drive progresses, we have a full tank of gas and snacks, my husband and I talk about all the things we did over the days. What we loved and loathed, the hidden gems, what we cannot wait to do again. We rate food items and discuss feelings at certain times. We both find ourselves reminiscing about the wonderful moments we shared with our family during the trip. From Wren’s delighted expressions when meeting Piglet to the laughter and fun we had together on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, these memories will continue to bring warmth to our hearts.

Despite the initial feelings of longing to continue in this fairy tale of Disney, I also find myself feeling grateful for the experience I had. The memories created during the trip are precious and something to cherish. As a family, we are so lucky that my husband is a SAHD. He thrives being with Wren and because of my school schedule, we can take breaks regularly.

After days of constant entertainment and excitement, returning to the regular rhythm of life can feel mundane at first. It might take some time to readjust to my everyday responsibilities and activities. However, I thoroughly enjoy the planning. So of course within 72 hours I already used the Bounce Back Offer to plan our next trip. Hello, Caribbean Beach!

The Bounce Back Offer is an offer for current guests of Walt Disney World resorts to book discounted rates for resort rooms or Disney Resort Hotel Packages. The offers are not a type of discount, but rather a method of booking a discount. These offers can include deep room discounts or promotions for things like free dining. The offers change several times during the year. On our next trip, we want to check out a moderate resort that has the Skyliner. This was an excellent way to do just that with a big discount- almost 35%.

For the time being, I will continue to finish the school year strong, print my sweet pictures from our time at Magic Kingdom, and reminisce on the fun we got to have. Oh, and dream about Mickey Beignets.
