¡Sorpresa!

Welcome to WanderLingo! We have just landed in the vibrant city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. My husband, son, and I will be here for almost five weeks, and my number one goal is to immerse myself in Spanish as much as possible.

If you’ve ever visited Puerto Vallarta, you might think it’s touristy and that most locals speak English. However, I've already discovered that if I engage with the locals in Spanish, they happily reciprocate! While there are some touristy areas, Puerto Vallarta retains its authentic Mexican charm and hasn’t been overly Americanized.

As an English as a Second Language teacher, I’m practicing what I preach to my students: be brave and dive into the new language and culture. This experience will not only enrich my personal life but also provide valuable insights to share with my students, helping to refine my teaching approaches.

Here's what you can expect in the coming weeks:

  1. Travel Tips and Insights: Essential tips, tricks, and important information if you decide to visit Puerto Vallarta.
  2. Food and Drink Recommendations: Discover great places to eat, drink, and explore.
  3. Language Immersion Experiences: Practical advice for those who wish to immerse themselves in the local language.
  4. Traveling with a Toddler: Tips and experiences on traveling with a little one in tow.

Stay tuned for more updates from our adventure in Puerto Vallarta!
